MLB Best Bet Season Record: 18-17-0

The Tigers are for real. They have he best record in the AL and aren't just White Sox merchants. They've taken series from the Yankees, Padres, and Mariners. They're just as capable of winning 2-1 as they are 10-0 as their +42 run differential shows. The starting pitching staff is arguably the best in the whole AL and the lineup has some real juice to it. Spencer Torkelson has finally broken out and is leading the way for the Tigers.

Whole lotta red
Baseball Savant

The stats match the Baseball Savant as well. Torkelson is slashing .255/.361/.569 with 8 home runs. The first basemen has also swiped a bag and scored 20 runs. Very impressively he's mashing fastballs. That's bad news for Ronel Blanco who throws his 4SEAM fastball more tan any other pitch. Even worse for Blanco is his number 2 is a slider and he is slugging .600 on all breaking pitches in 2025.

Even worse news for the Astros is that Jack Flaherty is that his knuckle curve is wicked. He's tossed it 104 times to a .207/.345 with an xBA and xSLG of .169/.205. The old Uncle Charlie also has a 51.9% whiff rate and a 34.8% put away rate.

The Astros are one of the worst teams at hitting the curve in all of MLB. They only have 6% of their hits against the number 2.

All of this adds up to a Detroit Tigers best bet, which may end up being a common theme this 2025 campaign.
