Man. The Pirates are really sad. Paul Skenes is wasting away on a team that can't score runs for him and the other pitchers keep giving up runs. As a team the Pirates are slashing .217/.297/.322 as a team, which is bad. 2nd worst actually.
I do like WAR as a stat as it is good at giving snapshots of how great an individual season is. For a team stat it has its issues as a single player can buoy an otherwise bad lineup or pitching staff. For example, if you take away the 2.0 fWAR Paul Skenes has accrued, the Pirates go from 13th in pitching fWAR to 20th. Mr. Skenes is not pitching for the Pirates tonight.
The Reds offense is heating up and they have a top 10 pitching staff. Give me Cincy for the best bet tonight.
