The Pirates are really sad and bad. When Paul Skenes isn't on the bump there's no reason to tune in to the ole Buccaneers in Pittsburgh. The Padres meanwhile have maintained their station as part of the class of the National League. Dylan Cease is taking the bump for the Friars while their lineup has bounced back with Jackson Merrill returning from injury. They just have too much quality top to bottom for a Pittsburgh team that only has 1.0 offensive fWAR and and has a deceitful pitching fWAR. Paul Skenes and Mitch Keller have a combined 3.8 fWAR already and they take up the bulk of their 13th ranked pitching staff by Fangraphs so far in 2025. Love the Padres for the best bet as they take advantage of bad team.
