I've wrtten what feels like ad nauseam about Houston and their pitching. The Marlins did ad Josh Bell and Jake Burger who have been raking for them, but Framber Valdez and all those sickos in the Houston bullpen are a different animal in comparison to the lowly Yankees and mediocre Phillies. Houston''s 4th best team ERA in all of MLB are coming to town and they're also bringing with them an offense that has pushed itself into the top 10 by fWar, thanks to the return of Altuve and Alvarez. I also would like to shout out Chas McCormick. The dude has been steady eddy in center field for years now and in 2023 he's slashing .276/.366/.518. He's having a good season and has been a reason they were able to survive missing two key cogs.
The other part of this bet is that Braxton Garret, while having a good season overall, has struggled a bit since July, giving up at least 3 runs in all but two starts since 7/3. He's solid, and has even been a bit unlucky, with having 4.08 ERA and a 3.49 FIP, but Houston is not the lineup you want to see when you're a lefty trying to get their groove back. Houston slashes .269/.335/.457 against lefties and that's above average across all of MLB.
Houston are a bunch of sickos, take them when you can.
