World Cup Finals 2026 Games of The Day Record: 51-45-0

Spain has looked good in the World Cup. They haven't looked particularly dynamic, except against Saudia Arabia, but their midfield and backline are rock solid and they can dominate possesion as needed thanks to both of those factors. Lamine Yamal has yet to really leave his mark but Mikel Oyarzabal has been outstanding as a center forward for La Roja in this world cup and his ability to hold up play and drop between the lines to connect has been invaluable.
Belgium's past 120 or so minutes has seen them outscore their opponents 7-1. A lot of that has to do with Rudi Garcia's trust in his young players and the ability of Romelu Lukaku to dictate defenses even at his age. Against Senegal and the United States, KDB wasn't a factor but against a team that won't counter press so aggressively, he might have time to set up his forwards.
What I think will be the difference in this game is that the Spanish midfield is so deep and dynamic that Youri Tielmans won't be able to dictate the game the way he did against the USA. While I think that this game will have more tension than the oddsmakers think it will, I see a world where Spain is a stonewall and wins 1-0 thanks to an Oyarzabal contribution. Spain is my game of the day.
